I bought these skates when I first started skating and liked them as starter skates.......that is until 2 months into my derby career the velcro on the strap ripped right off. They were pretty comfortable and easy to break in and for a beginner skater they are great because you don't have that awkward painful break in period. Unfortunately by month 3 when I started jamming these skates just didn't want to work with me and I ended up switching to the Reidell Vandels (wich I absolutely LOVE). I'm not a huge Sure Grip fan so I wouldn't really suggest these skates to anyone who has been skating for a while but for fresh meat they do the job.

It's possible that I am being a bit harsh on my skates... I got them around 6 months ago now and am still having trouble with them. I complain about them all the time. They are too tight despite being the size that I need. the tongue is too stiff and has scarred me for life on the front of my ankle. I am yet to find a way to lace my skates so that...
1. my feet don't go numb
2. my feet lose circulation and start to tingle then sting
3. the boot is too loose and my foot slips around.
My biggest problem with these skates would have to be the lacing. I have tried different lacing techniques and different laces but there seems to be no "Sweet spot". I am constantly stopping to readjust my laces.
My wheels have worn away on these skates faster than I expected and faster than a lot of the fresh meat that I started with who bought skates at the same time. Maybe My skates are carrying more weight :) I don't know.
On a positive note. My skates are fast, the trucks don't give me any trouble and regardless of how I adjust them the skates go where I tell them.
I have borrowed other peoples skates and brought myself a new (second hand) pair, however, when I get on the track in any skates other than My Sure grips, I just don't feel right, so I guess in the end, It's better the devil you know.

I got these skates about a year ago. I had a little trouble breaking in the tongue, it was a little stiff and gave me ankle blisters for a few months. They are comfy now, but just for reffing. I dont have problem with them at all for a agility skating, but when im jamming or skating long distances i get blisters and some pain in my arch. If your on a budget or dont plan on playing/jamming much I would go for them. But if you want something with a little more performance, I would safe up and get something with a leather boot.

These skates where a "hand-me-down" from my derby wife.I had these skates for 4 months before being able to afford more advanced setup. VERY COMFORTABLE!!! better then "The Rock" GT-50.
