Sonar Striker Wheel Color*

The Riedell Vixen derby skate is designed for reliable performance and high levels of comfort in a roller skate package that is a bit more than a traditional “starter” skate. The 165 boot is made of leather outers for abrasion and stress resistance but also has a soft padded lining for a comfortable fit. The bottom of the Vixen is built around the light weight response of the nylon PowerDyne Thrust plates. Grippy Sonar Striker wheels keep you firmly planted on the track. The Vixen is a great skate for those who are just getting started in derby but who also want a skate that will grow with them as they get better.

After a few months an update

So I've skated on my vixens for awhile now and I have two suggestions. One, spend the extra money and upgrade the plates. Two, upgrade your cushions, it was the best 8 bucks I spent on my skates. My feet felt so much better! Still a solid skate and I am still very happy with my investment.

My feet are very wide towards the base of my foot where the metatarsals are. So I probably should've read up a little more on these skates. But in any case, they're super light and the way they're equipped has definitely made them my absolute favorite skate! I switched from Sure-Grip Rock GT-50's and it's a world of a difference! Only now I have to take care of my bone spurr...
Great Beginner Boot

I'm re-learning how to skate and becoming a ref. This is a pretty comfortable boot and is a great fit for my foot. I'm planning on upgrading my plates at some point, but since I'm not skating as a player, i'm not in a super hurry.
A look into my experience ...

I got these skates when I first started derby 2yrs ago. They were SUPER easy to break in! I LOVE everthing about the boot itself. My only complaint is the Triton plate. I have had one replaced after only owning them 2 mths due to cracking in half during a bout. Riedell did fix it right away! After I got them back, I haven't had a problem since. Other than that one problem, I can't complain much!
